The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

The following local residents were named to the Dean's List at the State University of New York at New Paltz for the fall 2013 semester.

Nine students attending The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y., spent an Alternative Spring Break in Palm Beach County, Fla., helping fix up four needy homes in West Palm Beach and a church camp in Lake Worth. The nine students volunteered with the "Paint Your Heart Out" program of the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County.

The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y., today announced that 811 students have been named to the Dean's List for the fall 2013 semester. Full-time students who complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and achieve a semester grade-point average of at least 3.5 with no grades of D, F, Incomplete or Pass/Fail are eligible for the Dean's List.

The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named 851 students to the President's List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Fall 2013 semester. The SUNY Potsdam students were honored for earning top marks by Interim President Dr. Dennis L. Hefner.

Local college students studying at Hudson Valley Community College were inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic honor society for two-year institutions of higher learning. Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is indicative of academic excellence. Those inducted are matriculated students who have met standards including a grade point average of 3.71 or higher.
